Restore Damaged Teeth in One Visit With Dental Crowns (Caps) In Phoenix
May 20, 2023
People in Phoenix and the surrounding areas love the convenience of being able to have a damaged tooth restored in a single visit to Biltmore Dental Center. Dr. Sameet Koppikar can place all ceramic, high quality dental crowns, also called caps, in one appointment using CAD/CAM (computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing) technology.
The CEREC system, which was developed in 1985, includes a CEREC camera, advanced software, and a milling unit. The tooth is prepared in the same way as it would be for a traditional crown, but then the doctor uses his advanced skills and technology to streamline the process. He can typically design, create, and place the crown in 90 minutes or less.
Optical Impressions Patients do not have to hold a tray of unpleasant impression goo in their mouths while it hardens. The benefits of this system begin with the optical impressions. The CEREC camera scans the teeth and sends precise three-dimensional images to the computer graphic software program, which the doctor then uses to design the new restoration.
Sophisticated Graphics Software for Dental Design
The detailed images received from the camera facilitate the creation of better fitting crowns that require fewer adjustments. Dr. Koppikar uses his dental artistry to work directly with the optical impression to create a digital model of the new crown. The software aids the doctor in creating the most natural looking, and comfortably fitting, restorations possible.
In-Office Crown Creation
The doctor chooses the appropriate ceramic block that most closely matches your natural tooth color and places it in the CEREC milling unit. The software transfers the design to the machine and the unit’s high-speed diamond burs quickly and precisely create the restoration, which is then stained and glazed for natural looking beauty.
