Phoenix Area Practice Offers Quality Dental Veneers for Enhancing the Smile
May 20, 2023
Covering imperfections in the smile is one way to quickly and easily obtain a new look. The teeth near the front of the mouth, called the anterior teeth, are the teeth that are seen when patients smile, talk, and laugh. Dr. Sameet Koppikar of Phoenix is a dentist at Biltmore Dental Center who encourages patients to consider cosmetic restorations to address imperfections of these teeth. That may include permanent staining, cracks, chips, misalignment, or even gaps between the teeth. When these occur, porcelain veneers can be used to cover the teeth and provide a seamlessly beautiful smile!
Porcelain veneers are often desired by our patients. Phoenix area patients come into our practice asking about their options when it comes to restoring the smile. While there may be other ways to address the above issues, including orthodontics and composite resin bonding, none are nearly as popular as veneers.
Porcelain veneers are fabricated to bond over the front of teeth to change the appearance. They have the same sheen and shine as natural tooth enamel. This is why porcelain is the most recommended material for these restorations. They mimic the appearance of the natural teeth in a way no other material can.
Preparation is required before veneers can be made and placed. This means that a small portion of the tooth enamel must be removed. Once this is done, impressions are taken. These molds are sent to a ceramist in a laboratory for fabrication. This takes approximately one to two weeks. Patients return to the dental office for placement, during which the dentist will adhere the veneers to the front of the teeth. Patients leave the dental office with a brand new lease on life – showing off a beautiful new smile!
